Arsenal continue their push to secure a Champions League spot for next season when they face Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium this afternoon on Kilamiti.
The Gunners suffered a 2-1 defeat against Brighton at the Emirates Stadium last time out, leaving them in fifth place on 54 points, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham who currently hold a spot in the Champions League.
Southampton meanwhile sit in 14th place on 36 points, having scored 37 goals and conceded 52. With seven matches remaining, Saints trail sixth-placed West Ham United by 15 points for a spot in the Conference League qualifiers.
Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men were defeated 6-0 in their last game at home against Chelsea, extending their winless streak to five (one draw and four losses). The previous league meetings between the teams saw Arsenal come out on top 3-0 at Emirates Stadium in December. Alexandre Lacazette, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel all got on the scoresheet.
